Let's start!
(The number you will see in parentheses behind the instructions is the number of stitches you will have at the end of the row)
GHOST BODY
Row 1: 6 sc in a magic ring
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: 1 sc - 1 inc (18)
Row 4: 2 sc - 1 inc (24)
Row 5: 3 sc - 1 inc (30)
Row 6: 4 sc - 1 inc (36)
Row 7 to 18: 36 sc in each row
Row 19: In this round, we're going to work only in the front loop of the stitch, and we'll do 5 repetitions of this sequence 👉 2 sl st - 1 sc - 1 hdc - 2 hd - 1 hda - 1 sc.
At the end of the 5 repetitions, in the last remaining stitch, we will make 1 sl st and cut the yarn.
I will use a yarn needle to thread the yarn to the inside and make some stitches to hide the yarn, then I'll secure it with a knot so that the yarn is not visible.
If you have any doubts about how to do this part, you can find the link to the video tutorial above where you can see the step-by-step process. 😊
GHOST BOTTOM COVER
Row 1: 6 sc in a magic ring
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: 1 sc - 1 inc (18)
Row 4: 2 sc - 1 inc (24p)
Row 5: 3 sc - 1 inc (30)
Row 6: 4 sc - 1 inc (36)
At the end, cut the yarn, leaving enough for sewing to the body.
🧵 To sew both parts (the body and the bottom cover) together, I take the front loop of the stitch from the body and pass the needle through the row of stitches that are visible inside (it's the back loop of the stitch we didn't pick up in round 19)
👁🗨 Before closing, we insert the stuffing; the base should be slightly padded so that the waves have a bit of a fluttery effect, But if we overdo it, it won't stay upright, and if we fall short, the waves will look 'flattened,' so before closing completely, shape the stuffing a bit with your hands and make sure it looks good when you place it on the table.
👁🗨👁🗨 To make the eyes, I used felt. For the black part, I used a safety nose as a template to create the circle, and for the white part, I did it by eye, using the black part as a reference.
I glued the black part to the white one using craft glue, and I used the same glue to attach it to the ghost's body.
Craft glue isn't very durable; it works well if you're going to have the little ghosts as decorations, but if they will be handled, it's better to sew or use a stronger type of adhesive.
I have glued the eyes from row 7.
PACMAN, TOP PART (make 2)
Row 1: 6 sc in a magic ring
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: 1 sc - 1 inc (18)
Row 4: 2 sc - 1 inc (24)
Row 5: 3 sc - 1 inc (30)
Row 6: 4 sc - 1 inc (36)
Row 7: 5 sc - 1 inc (42)
Rows 8 and 9: 42 sc in each row
At the end, cut the yarn, leaving enough
To avoid a visible step when closing, we will pass through the next stitch with a yarn needle.
And then pass the needle again through the back loop of the previous stitch
Just like with the ghost's body, we're going to pass the needle through a couple of stitches on the inside to hide the yarn and secure with 1 knot.
PACMAN, INNER LID (make 2)
Row 1: 6 sc in a magic ring
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: 1 sc - 1 inc (18)
Row 4: 2 sc - 1 inc (24p)
Row 5: 3 sc - 1 inc (30)
Row 6: 4 sc - 1 inc (36)
At the end, cut the yarn, leaving enough to sew to the top lid.
Just like on the top lid, to close, we pass the yarn needle through the next stitch and then again through the back loop of the previous stitch, without securing with a knot.
🧵 We sew by passing the needle through the back loop of the top lid stitch and the front loop of the top part stitch
To stuff, I've tried two ways: in one, I put a small piece of cardboard inside to prevent the mouth from bulging too much on the inside, and in the other, I didn't.
Putting both halves with the cardboard makes it too 'flat,' and putting both halves without it causes the mouth to bulge on the inside. To avoid it, you need to use less stuffing, but in a large Pac-Man, it doesn't look good, while in a smaller one, it's not as noticeable
So in my case, I've placed one half with cardboard and the other half without it.
When we have both halves ready, we are going to pass the needle through the first 12 stitches to join them 👇
At the end, we pass the needle through 9 more stitches, but this time, we pick up the row of stitches that is lower on top, which helps the mouth from being too closed 👇
And there you have it, when finished, secure with one knot, pass the needle through the body to hide the strand, and cut the excess.
👁🗨 For the mouth and eyes, just like with the ghosts, I used felt and cut them by eye. 😊
